ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) party president, Junaid Akbar, has stepped down from his role as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Akbar announced that he submitted his resignation to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. He explained that the PAC position was a responsibility entrusted to him by the party, and he was resigning as per its instructions. Akbar added that he would accept any decision made by PTI founder Imran Khan.
In a separate conversation with a private TV channel, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, mentioned that she and her sisters had recently met with the PTI founder. She said they received a message about Akbar’s resignation, which was passed on to PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and senior leader Omar Ayub.
Outside Parliament House, Barrister Gohar told reporters that he was informed about the directive regarding Akbar the previous night by Imran Khan’s sister.

He called it an internal party matter and stated that the party follows any instructions from its founder. Gohar expressed hope that the matter would be resolved soon based on those instructions.
Party sources confirmed that Imran Khan had asked Akbar to resign from the PAC role to focus entirely on party work, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Insiders noted that holding both the PAC and provincial president roles was seen as challenging, and the party founder wanted Akbar to prioritize his organizational duties.
Akbar was elected PAC chairman without opposition in January and was also appointed KP party president, replacing Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. There is now talk within the party that Omar Ayub might be named the next PAC chairman.
On the other hand, the court ordered the removal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Rauf Hassan’s name from the Passport Control List (PCL).

The Islamabad High Court heard the case of removing Rauf Hassan’s name from the PCL. The court ruled that the order to include Rauf Hassan’s name in the Passport Control List was illegal and malicious.
The court accepted the application to remove PTI leader Rauf Hassan’s name from the PCL and directed Rauf Hassan to approach the trial court for permission to travel abroad.
The Islamabad High Court remarked that the trial court should decide on Rauf Hassan’s application as soon as possible in accordance with the law. According to the lawyer, Rauf Hassan is suffering from cancer and needs to go to the UK for a check-up.
The court said that, according to the lawyer, adding someone’s name to the PCL just because a case has been registered is unjustified.
