ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to plant fruit trees and start large-scale tree plantation along all motorways in Pakistan. It was also proposed to lease government land near motorways to the private sector.
This decision was made in a joint meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik. Abdul Aleem Khan said that making motorway travel pleasant and improving the environment is a top priority.
During the meeting, it was suggested that private companies be allowed to lease the government land along the motorways. Immediate action will be taken in this regard. According to the official statement, a 25-year plan will be prepared for planting fruit trees along the motorways.

Abdul Aleem Khan requested agricultural experts and farmers to take part in this important project. He said that fruit trees will not only help the environment but also serve the community. Tree plantation will begin along the motorways from Karachi to Quetta and from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Later, fruit trees will also be planted along other highways.
Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik directed officials to prepare solid proposals within the next three days. He said that fast and practical methods must be used instead of traditional ones. Both ministers agreed to work together for this plantation drive.
