All Punjab schools to reopen from Monday, 12 May 2025

RAWALPINDI: All educational institutions, including private and public schools, across Punjab, which were closed due to Pakistan-India tensions, will reopen on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Due to the tense situation, schools in Punjab suspended activities on May 7, 9, and 10. Following a ceasefire, all schools will resume operations tomorrow. A notification has been issued, stating that educational activities will restart as normal across the province.

As per the official notification issued by Punjab Education Department said that All Private and Public Schools will reopen from Monday 12 May 2025.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar announced that all educational institutions will reopen on Monday. He stated that both public and private schools will resume teaching activities as usual. The education department has issued instructions to all districts to ensure the full resumption of teaching.

The notification issued by the Punjab Government stated that all educational institutions will remain open from May 12, 2025, across the province.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif declared a National Day of Thanksgiving today to mark the success of Operation Bunyan Marsous and to honor Pakistan’s armed forces.

In a statement, he expressed gratitude for the victory and praised the bravery of the armed forces. He said the day is for giving thanks, honoring the military’s courage, and appreciating the nation’s unity and resolve.

The Prime Minister noted that Operation Bunyan Marsous effectively countered enemy aggression, with Pakistan demonstrating strength on all fronts while maintaining restraint and preparedness.

He urged the nation, especially religious scholars, to offer prayers and thanks, and to pray for the martyrs and veterans. He emphasized that the sacrifices of the armed forces will always be remembered, and the nation stands with them.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire. In a social media post, he said both countries, through US mediation, consented to an immediate ceasefire. He congratulated both nations for their wise decision.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the ceasefire. Speaking to a private TV channel, he said Pakistan and India agreed to an immediate ceasefire starting at 4:30 PM. He noted that Pakistan is ready for the ceasefire but will respond to any aggression from India. He thanked the countries that facilitated the ceasefire.
