PSCA Managing Director Ahsan Younas told a newspaper that this is the first phase of expansion. The building cost Rs60 million, and Rs240 million is for installing surveillance and communication equipment.

SP Rana Jawad, head of Sahiwal Safe City, said 165 cameras are set up across the city and district. Twelve are at key entry and exit points for monitoring traffic and commuters.

Other additions include six emergency buttons, five free Wi-Fi spots, 20 body cameras, 20 rugged phones, and two environmental sensors. These allow people in busy markets to contact police during emergencies.

A drone camera is also used for aerial monitoring. In the first month, 989 police-related and 290 local government observations were recorded. The e-challan system spotted traffic violations like signal jumping and unpaid fines.

Authorities found 167 e-challan defaulters and 54 cases of fake or tampered license plates. Traffic police collected Rs849,100 in fines.

SP Jawad said the 12-member Safe City team is trained for effective policing. They provide online support to reduce crimes like motorcycle and vehicle theft, robberies, and dacoities. The Safe City Office is also monitoring the environment with two devices to check air quality, noise, and climate factors.
