RAWALPINDI: The smart card registration system for new vehicles, motorcycles, and public transport in Rawalpindi’s Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department is not working again. No smart cards have been issued for vehicles registered from February 1 to May 3.
According to the private newspaper report, in the past four months, about 25,700 new vehicles and motorcycles were registered in Rawalpindi District.
However, none of the owners have received their smart cards, causing inconvenience to many citizens and drivers who have visited the department’s offices multiple times without success.
A spokesperson from the excise department’s motor branch confirmed the system issue and said smart card issuance will restart once the system is fixed next week.
