ISLAMABAD: As Eidul Azha 2025 nears, Islamabad’s district administration plans to close unauthorised animal sale points and set up five official cattle markets in different areas with clear rules.
As per the details, the administration has started a plan to manage the cattle trade in the city. The district administration is taking action against illegal animal sale points, according to the ICT spokesperson.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said five official cattle markets will be set up in Sangjhani, Sector I-15, Bharakahu, Lehtrar Road, and Islamabad Expressway. Tender notices for these markets have been issued.
The markets will operate from the 1st to the 13th of Zilhajj, and no animal trading will be allowed before this period. Any market outside these locations will be considered illegal.
Teams have been formed to monitor illegal trading points, and action has begun against unapproved stalls. Officials noted that such setups often cause sanitation issues, creating problems for residents. The official markets will have basic facilities like water, electricity, and proper entry and exit points. Health teams will check the animals.
The deputy commissioner said the aim is to provide a safe and controlled environment for buyers and sellers. The administration is working with the Metropolitan Corporation, police, and health services to manage the markets. All departments have been asked to cooperate for smooth operations.
