LAHORE: The Punjab government has declared a public holiday for the Christian community in the province on April 1, 2024, in connection with Easter.
The decision was made by the Punjab Cabinet on March 26, 2024, and a notification was issued by the Services and General Administration Department on March 27.

The notification states that a Public Holiday shall be observed on April 1, 2024 (Monday) on account of the “Day after Easter” only for the Christian Community throughout the province of Punjab.
There is a significant Christian minority in Pakistan, and the Punjab government has a history of declaring public holidays for Christian holidays.

The decision to declare a public holiday for Easter Day is welcomed by the Christian community in Punjab as it will allow them to celebrate the holiday with their families and friends.
