ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle arrested five senior Capital Development Authority (CDA) officers involved in a fake plot allotment scandal causing financial losses worth one billion rupees.
As per the media reports, the arrested individuals include Asghar Ali, Raja Shoaib Malal, Taimoor Ahmed, Inayatullah, and Aftab Ahmed, who held positions as Assistant Directors and Deputy Directors in the CDA.
According to the reports, the arrests were made after the Special Judge Central II in Islamabad canceled the pre-arrest bail of the accused.
Investigations revealed that the officers illegally allotted 43 plots in Islamabad’s sectors I-14, E-11, and D-13 by posing as victims of fake land schemes, resulting in a loss of approximately one billion rupees to the national treasury.

An FIA spokesperson said that the accused prepared fake documents, misused their authority, and were involved in large-scale corruption.
After the arrests, the investigation has been sped up, and searches continue to catch other partners of the accused.
Law enforcement agencies indicated that more arrests are expected, and evidence is being collected to strengthen the case against the accused in court.
On the other hand, Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, visited Sectors E-12 and C-14 on a CDA electric bus, accompanied by senior officers.
The group included Member Admin, Member Finance, Member Planning, Member Environment, Member Estate, DG Enforcement, DG Works, DG Environment, DG Sanitation, Project Directors, senior Islamabad administration officials, and other CDA officers.

According to a CDA statement, the chairman inspected ongoing development work in Sector E-12. Officers briefed him on the progress of development activities in the sector.
The chairman directed the immediate demolition of illegal constructions and encroachments in Sector E-12 and the recovery of land. He also instructed the installation of a main gate for entry into the sector.
The chairman further directed that all main roads in sub-sectors 1, 2, and 3 of Sector E-12 be completed by June 30. He added that possession of developed plots should be handed over to allottees.
