RAWALPINDI: General Syed Asim Munir, COAS, presided over the 257th Corps Commanders’ Conference at GHQ today, where the domestic and regional environment, as well as the external and internal security challenges facing Pakistan, were reviewed.
According to a statement by the Pakistan Army media wing (Inter-Services Public Relations) ISPR, the military leadership is aware of the full spectrum of challenges and is committed to carrying out its constitutionally mandated responsibilities with the support of the resilient people of Pakistan.
The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to fully support national responses to internal and external threats, the statement added. While intelligence-based operations are being carried out by security forces in areas along the western border, the forum stressed the need for a whole-of-nation and whole-of-government approach to eradicate the scourge of terrorism on a long-term basis.
The forum also highlighted that the focused counter-terrorism campaign against terrorists, as approved by the government, through a whole-of-system approach, would lead to the elimination of permissive factors of terrorism, extremism, and instability in the country. The military leadership expressed its assurance to pursue the goals set by the National Security Council (NSC) and turn the tide against terrorism through the coordinated application of all elements of national power.
