BENGALURU: S. Satish, President of the Indian Dog Breeders Association and a well-known dog lover, has bought a rare wolfdog named Cadabom Okami for ₹50 crore (about $5.7 million).
Cadabom Okami is a unique mix of a wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd, making it the first of its kind. At just eight months old, Okami weighs over 75 kilograms (165 pounds) and stands 30 inches tall. This rare breed is known for its intelligence and protective nature and is considered one of the most expensive dogs in the world.
Satish, who owns over 150 dog breeds, shared his passion for unique pets. He said, “I love dogs and enjoy introducing rare breeds to India, which is why I spent ₹50 crore on this pup.”
The arrival of Okami in India has created a buzz. A video of the wolfdog at a film premiere received over 3 million views online. Satish also earns from public appearances with his rare dogs, making between ₹2.3 lakh for 30 minutes to ₹9.8 lakh for a five-hour event.
To take care of his valuable dogs, Satish has a seven-acre farm with individual 20×20 ft rooms for each dog. A team of six caretakers looks after them. Okami eats a special diet of three kilograms of raw chicken meat daily.
This isn’t Satish’s first big purchase. Earlier, he made news for buying a rare Chow Chow that looked like a Qinling panda.
His passion for rare dog breeds continues to attract attention from pet lovers and the public.
