In a significant development, Pakistan’s cricket delegation is set to embark on a crucial visit to India for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The delegation, appointed in consultation with the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will carry out a comprehensive review of the tournament’s venues, with a specific focus on Pakistan’s matches. The visit aims to assess the adequacy of the venues, security arrangements, and other crucial aspects pertaining to Pakistan’s participation in the tournament.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Zarzai, will embark on a journey covering multiple cities. The itinerary includes visits to Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, where they will closely scrutinize the facilities and logistical arrangements in place for the upcoming matches.
It is important to note that the decision to send the Pakistani team to India has always been subject to government approval, as emphasized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in an earlier statement following the announcement of the World Cup schedule. The PCB reiterated that the team’s visit to India necessitates permission from the government, highlighting the significance and intricacy surrounding the bilateral cricketing relations between the two nations.
The ICC World Cup, scheduled to commence on October 5, will witness an intense showdown between arch-rivals Pakistan and India on October 15 in Ahmedabad. As the date draws near, the Pakistani delegation’s visit assumes utmost importance, paving the way for meticulous planning and preparation to ensure a smooth and successful campaign for the national team.
