ISLAMABAD: Motorway police stopped a smuggling attempt near Sial Mor and seized foreign brand cigarettes worth 80 million (8crore) rupees.
A motorway police spokesperson said that during a joint operation with customs officials near Sial Mor, three trucks loaded with foreign brand cigarettes were caught.
The spokesperson added that 600 cartons of cigarettes, valued at 80 million rupees, were recovered from the trucks.
According to the motorway police spokesperson, the three truck drivers, Majid Khan, Munir Khan, and Ijaz Ahmed, were arrested and handed over to Sargodha customs officials. The suspects were smuggling the cigarettes from Mardan to supply them to Kasur, Sahiwal, and Khanewal.
In another news, International flights could begin soon from Begum Nusrat Bhutto Sukkur Airport as part of efforts to expand the airport. This update came after a meeting with the Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA).

According to media reports, PAA’s Planning and Development Director, Abbas Sheikh, and other officials met with the Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry today to discuss airport expansion.
In the meeting, Muhammad Mohsin Farooq, a committee leader from the chamber, said two weekly flights from Sukkur to Jeddah were approved to start in July this year.
He mentioned that this was possible due to efforts by Sukkur Chamber of Commerce President Khalid Kakezai and former president Bilal Waqar Khan.
The officials also discussed plans to develop Sukkur Airport, including adding cargo terminals and runways for cargo flights.
