KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that 50 new parks are being built in the city. Development work is in its final stages. Towns in West District faced a water shortage, and to address this, a canal of 100 MGD water has been drawn from Hub River.
The mayor shared these thoughts while opening the newly built Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Family Park in UC-5 Rashidabad, Baldia Town. Leaders from the Pakistan Peoples Party, town and UC chairmen, members, and local party leaders were also present.
Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab said they are working in all seven districts of Karachi without any difference. They will keep completing development projects for the people of Karachi. He added that the people of Baldia Town have trusted them, and they will live up to that trust.
He said the opening of this park is part of the plan to build 50 new parks he had announced earlier. The area where the park now stands used to be a garbage dump, but today it is green. This is the vision of the Peoples Party and Bilawal Bhutto. In a few days, they will start building a football ground on Maripur Road.

The tender for this ground has already been done, and people can see the work happening. He said the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is working today, while in the past, former mayor Waseem Akhtar only complained about lack of powers and threw files on TV.
The mayor said every citizen wants everything near their home, which leads to encroachments and traffic jams that affect everyone. He suggested people avoid buying from street carts. By law, seized carts must be returned in 15 days. When they return the carts, the vendors set them up again because they know people will buy from them.
He added that this park, built on 20,000 square feet, has fun facilities for children too. This is a less-developed area, but the Peoples Party’s vision is to provide municipal services to every corner of Karachi.
