RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has approved the distribution of 1,000 free tractors to wheat farmers.
As per private newspaper report, the 23rd meeting of the provincial cabinet was held in Lahore, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, several important projects were approved during the meeting. The cabinet approved a “Zero Time to Start” policy for Special Economic Zones and Small Industrial Estates.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the government wants to make business easier for industrialists. She urged investors to set up industries and promised immediate issuance of NOCs. She added that the industrial process would be made business-friendly.
The cabinet also approved free travel facilities in the mass transit system for special persons and senior citizens. A special travel card for students was also proposed.
The chief minister called for a plan to start a tram service and decided to introduce modern cancer treatment methods in the province.

The cabinet approved Rs 580 million for the purchase of cryoablation machines as an alternative to chemotherapy for cancer patients.
Funds were approved to upgrade special education centers as centers of excellence. The chief minister directed improvements to facilities for special persons and announced a plan to introduce special transport for them.
The meeting also approved several recruitments, including:
- 5,960 constables
- 87 positions in the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau
- 127 positions in the Mass Transit Authority
- 25 positions in Specialized Healthcare ICT
- 500 recruitments for the Murree Traffic Management Plan
The cabinet approved Rs 30 billion for the Nigehban Ramadan Package, benefiting 30 million people. Under the package, each family will receive Rs 10,000 at home without waiting in queues. From next year, the package will be distributed through ATM cards.
