RAWALPINDI; Federal government is expected to increase petroleum prices in Pakistan for the second half of January 2025 due to rising oil prices in the global market.
As per the report, in Pakistan, these fuel prices are revised every two weeks, the government will announce new petrol and diesel prices on Wednesday night, January 15, which will come into effect from Thursday, January 16.
Global Oil Prices Impact;
Expected increase is linked to higher international oil prices, this rise follows strict U.S. sanctions on Russian oil supplies.
As of January 14, Brent crude oil was trading at $80.79 per barrel, the highest in nearly four months. These sanctions may cost Russia billions of dollars but are also driving up global oil prices.
Current Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan;
Currently, petrol is priced at Rs252.66 per litre in Pakistan. High-speed diesel costs Rs258.34 per litre, and light-speed diesel is Rs148.95 per litre.

Petrol prices in Pakistan expected from January 16;
Government is expected to revise the petrol prices in Pakistan by Rs3 to Rs5 per litre from January 16, 2025. If an increase of Rs3 is approved, the new petrol price would be Rs255.66 per litre in Pakistan, and it would be Rs257.66 if the rate is increased by Rs5 per litre.
It may be recalled that earlier, on January 1, 2025, the government announced new prices for petroleum products.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol was increased by 56 paise, while the price of high-speed diesel was increased by Rs 2.96.
After the price increase, the new price of petrol was Rs 252.66 per litre, while the new price of high-speed diesel was Rs 258.34 per litre.
