LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that rural women in Punjab will be given free cows and buffaloes to raise and earn a living.
Maryam Nawaz said that the doors of dignified employment have been opened for the poor women of Punjab, and a record package of Rs. 2 billion has been allocated to benefit 11,000 rural women from 12 districts.
She stated that rural women will be provided free cows and buffaloes to raise and earn a living and assured full support for the livestock farmers of Punjab.
She further mentioned that rural women in Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, and Muzaffargarh will receive free cows and buffaloes. Additionally, rural women in Rajanpur and Kot Addu will also benefit from this initiative.

The Chief Minister of Punjab also announced that 80,000 livestock farmers will have access to interest-free loans of Rs. 27,000 per animal through the CM Livestock Card. Livestock farmers across Punjab will be able to purchase up to 270,000 units of Vanda, mineral mixtures, and silage from registered dealers.
She added that livestock farmers will be able to buy Vanda and other items through interest-free loans repayable in equal installments over four months. Furthermore, 400,000 animals will be prepared for meat export through the Livestock Card.
She noted that the Animal Identity Traceability System has been implemented to facilitate the care of livestock. A helpline will also be operational for farmers, along with an online registration facility.
