ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched two new electric bus routes this week for the citizens of Islamabad.
The first route runs from PIMS to the Secretariat, covering 12 kilometers, with stops at PIMS, Faisal Mosque, F-7, F-6, Marriott Hotel, and Pak Secretariat, while the second route runs from Faizabad to Pirwadhai Morh, covering 10 kilometers and stopping at 17 locations.

More than 20 electric buses are operating on the new routes, with a flat fare of Rs50. Charging stations for the buses have been set up at key spots like the Convention Centre and H-9.
The buses are managed by the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), under an agreement where NRTC will receive Rs306 to Rs331 per kilometer.
The electric bus service was first launched in July 2024, and following positive feedback, it’s now expanding. The CDA plans further expansion to improve public transport in Islamabad.
