ISLAMABAD: In order to promote defense cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, an agreement has been signed for the sale of JF-17 Block 3 fighter jets to Azerbaijan.
As per a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army, the aim of this deal is to enhance the air capabilities of Azerbaijan.
According to ISPR, during the recent visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Pakistan, he was briefed on the capabilities of JF-17 Thunder Block III and the use of this aircraft for various purposes.
After the visit of President Ilham Aliyev, at the request of the Government of Azerbaijan, Pakistan sent a special contingent of its Air Force to participate in ADEX 2024 in Baku, in which, along with the demonstration of its capabilities by the Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan’s JF Thunder Block 3 was also showcased.

Meanwhile, the JF-17 Thunder also performed air-to-air refueling with a PAF Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft.
On the occasion, President Ilham Aliyev visited the display of JF-17 Thunder Block 3 and later witnessed a spectacular aerial demonstration of the fighter jet.
JF-17 Thunder Block III is a 4.5 generation multirole fighter aircraft equipped with an AESA radar and long-range BVR capable of performing high-performance combat operations. After the addition of this fighter jet, Azerbaijan’s national security will be further strengthened.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that the support provided by Pakistan will play an important role in strengthening the existing military cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, promoting close defense cooperation, and strengthening the warm, brotherly relations between the two countries.
