ISLAMABAD: Justice (retd) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, who was recently appointed as the head of the Missing Persons Commission by the government, has passed away.
According to a Supreme Court announcement, the funeral prayers of Justice (retd) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar will be offered in E Block, Mosque DHA Phase 8 (Park View), Lahore, at 4:15 PM, after Asr prayers.
During the hearing of the missing persons case in the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, the Additional Attorney General had stated that the government had appointed Justice (retd) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar as the new commission head in place of Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.

Justice (retd) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar was 79 years old and had been ill for some time.
It should be recalled that the first commission in Pakistan to investigate the issue of enforced disappearances was formed in 2010, headed by Justice (retd) Kamal Mansoor Alam. Then, in 2011, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal was appointed as the head of the commission.
