ISLAMABAD: The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir has implemented a dress code prohibiting students from wearing shirts and jeans, aiming to uphold the institution’s “dignity and sanctity.”
As per circular, “Students and staff of the university are required to wear decent dress in accordance with local cultural and religious values.” The circular was issued on August 29 but surfaced on September 17.
This is the second official handout of its kind in recent times. Last month, Government College University in Lahore implemented a new dress code policy.

The policy promotes “more modest attire” by banning male and female students from wearing t-shirts and jeans on campus.
The GCU notification also cautioned that failure to comply with the new dress code policy would be “dealt with strictly” by the university.
The UAJK clarified that the dress restriction was not intended to impose rigidity or regimentation but was in line with “the spirit of discipline, punctuality, and religious matters.”
