Rawalpindi: A one-day-old baby girl fell to the ground and died due to the alleged negligence of the staff at Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi.

According to private TV, the incident occurred on August 23 when the girl fell from the nurse’s hand in Holy Family Hospital.

The report said that the girl fell to the ground in front of her mother, Amina Bibi, and passed away immediately. The nurse then placed the deceased girl on a bench and disappeared.

Amina Bibi, the girl’s mother, reported the incident to MS Dr. Ijaz Butt, prompting the formation of a committee consisting of three doctors.

In her petition, the girl’s mother accused the hospital staff of ill-treatment even before the delivery. She stated that on August 19, when she arrived at the hospital for a check-up, an ultrasound was performed, revealing that the child’s amniotic fluid was decreasing. Despite asking, she was not given any medication or treatment, and she was not allowed to use the washroom.

According to the request, staff informed her that the doctor on duty would arrive at 10 a.m. and would provide further details. Amna Bibi mentioned that her file was lost, which was later discovered on August 20 due to the intervention of an administrative officer.

Despite this, a check-up was not performed. The following morning, the doctor came, called for the file, and dismissed her. Her husband’s official letter and blood slip were removed from the file.

She was advised to obtain medicines from the market. In the evening, she was told she was no longer in labor, but when she experienced pain at night, she was taken to the labor room and made to sit on a chair, leading to delivery.

It should be noted that complaints of misbehavior by the staff of Holy Family Hospital, especially towards women going for delivery, and forcing them to buy medicines from outside medical stores are common.

Additionally, there are frequent complaints of staff negligence and lack of attention in sensitive delivery cases.
