ISLAMABAD: Residents of Islamabad Capital Territory are encountering challenges in acquiring birth and death certificates because the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has suspended its services.

The suspension is due to the Islamabad Municipal Corporation (MCI) not paying NADRA a debt of Rs2 million.

Media reports suggest that the MCI’s failure to settle its dues has resulted in the suspension of services, causing citizens to struggle with obtaining essential documents for over a week.

NADRA has confirmed that the service suspension is a result of the MCI’s outstanding debt.

The suspension of birth and death certificate services has caused considerable inconvenience to residents, who are now experiencing delays and complications in various official processes.

The MCI has not yet given any update on the situation or shared a time frame for fixing the problem.

On the other hand, the government has approved digital visas for people from 126 countries. This allows them to enter for business and tourism without needing a visa.

The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved the decision to promote investment and trade with friendly countries, allowing visa-free entry for investors and businessmen.
