ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet decided that no new tariffs would be imposed on solar panels to ensure continued access to affordable renewable solar energy for the public. They affirmed that low-cost renewable solar energy would soon be accessible to every citizen.
As per media report, In addition, the federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, authorized limited exports of sugar following advice from the Sugar Advisory Board, which confirmed sufficient sugar reserves in the country.
The official statement indicated that the Prime Minister, while endorsing sugar exports, explicitly directed that there should be no rise in the sugar price.
Additionally, the Prime Minister instructed the establishment of a cabinet committee to oversee the sugar price, emphasizing that any potential price hike would prompt a halt in additional exports.
During the federal cabinet meeting, the PM Shehbaz also addressed the misconceptions and speculations surrounding Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, clarifying that rather than initiating a new and structured military operation, ongoing operations would be intensified based on intelligence inputs.
The premier emphasized that Azm-e-Istehkam represents a comprehensive national strategy involving multiple domains and agencies aimed at ensuring long-term stability in Pakistan. He clarified that labeling it as a large-scale military operation necessitating displacement is a misconception.
The Prime Minister stated that the goal of Azm-e-Istehkam is to effectively eliminate the remaining elements of terrorism, criminal activities, terrorist networks, and violent extremism in the country.
During the meeting, the cabinet was briefed on the progress of privatizing state institutions, with a particular focus on the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The cabinet was informed that the privatization process of PIA is advancing rapidly, with various companies expressing interest in the pre-bidding process and visiting multiple PIA sites.
The cabinet was informed that the PIA bidding will take place in the first week of August. The Prime Minister directed the acceleration of the PIA privatization process, emphasizing the importance of transparency.
