LAHORE: The Punjab government has initiated the Chief Minister Climate Leadership Development Internship Programme, titled “Mera Punjab Smog Free,” which provides young graduates with a Rs25,000 scholarship for engaging in community service aimed at enhancing the province.
As per media report, during her address, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the collective need to take steps for the permanent eradication of smog.
As part of the Smog-Free Punjab Initiative, young graduates will do special community work. Graduates who have completed their degrees in the last two years are eligible to apply.
The Punjab CM said that interns in the program will get Rs25,000 each month. This is to encourage them to help the community and protect the environment.
Registration for the internship program is open until July 20, 2024, and individuals aged 18 to 25 years are eligible to apply.
Upon completion of the internship programme, participants will receive a ‘Community Service Certificate’.
Maryam Nawaz asked everyone to help the government fight smog by planting trees and reducing pollution from vehicles and factories.
The CM also urged for minimizing the use of plastic in daily life and abstaining from burning crop stubble and residue. Furthermore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has welcomed the cancellation of the strike by the flour mills.
