ISLAMABAD: The federal government has declared the 9th and 10th of Muharram as public holidays across the country on account of Ashura 2024.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif approved two holidays on the occasion of Ashura, and a notification has been issued.
The Cabinet Division has issued a notification for the two holidays, specifying that Tuesday, 16th July, and Wednesday, 17th July 2024, will be public holidays across the country.
When Will be Ashura 2024 9th & 10th Muharram Holidays ?
As per the notification issued by the federal government, Ashura 2024 holidays in Pakistan will be on Tuesday, 16th July, and Wednesday, 17th July 2024.
It should be noted, the interior ministry approved the nationwide deployment of the Pak Army and Rangers for security purposes during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
As per report, the ministry order, said the approval followed requests by all provincial governments, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
It added that the federal government authorized the deployment of army troops and civil armed forces under Sections 4 and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, for Muharram security duties in aid of civil power.
