ISLAMABAD: The federal government has opted to appoint the IT ministry’s secretary from the private sector rather than from within the bureaucracy.
The Establishment Division has invited applications from eligible candidates for the position of Secretary of the Ministry of IT within 15 days. The appointment will be made on a contract basis through a competitive process.
A relevant qualification is required, along with a minimum of 20 years of experience in the IT and Telecom sector, with at least twelve years in a senior position.
The maximum age limit for the two-year extendable contract appointment is 60 years, the secretary salary will be between Rs1.5 million to Rs2 million on Special Professional Pay Scale.
The candidates professional qualifications will be evaluated based on their experience in computer science, information technology, information system security, IT management, or in the preparation of project proposals related to computer information systems.
They are expected to be capable of implementing IT and Telecom development programs through effective monitoring and control mechanisms, in addition to possessing expertise in policy and program review and evaluation.
