LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to introduce a tram service in Lahore, the provincial capital, to facilitate residents and enhance the city’s beauty.
During her visit to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) headquarters, Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting where approval for the project was granted.
Upon her arrival, DG LDA Tahir Farooq extended a welcome to her. The meeting saw the presence of senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, special assistant on political affairs Zeeshan Malik, chief secretary, principal secretary, and other officials.
The DG LDA provided the CM Punjab with an overview of the department’s activities, significant projects, and achievements.
During the meeting, the chief minister gave her approval for the project involving the redesign and enhancement of MM Alam Road.
As part of the project, a tram service will be introduced in the Liberty, Main Market, Mini Market, and Hali Road areas. Additionally, nearby areas will undergo revitalization.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam also gave her approval for the plan concerning a signal-free corridor from Kareem block to the Motorway.
