ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the national economy and combat corruption, stating, “Pakistan’s journey toward prosperity hinges on a fair system and the diligent efforts of both employers and employees, including workers.”
Speaking at a gathering commemorating International Labour Day at his residence, the premier acknowledged the economic challenges facing the country but expressed determination to overcome them through collective endeavors and sincerity.
Highlighting his recent visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz mentioned the desire of Saudi leadership, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to see Pakistan progress.
He also addressed the importance of recognizing the contributions of laborers, drawing from his own family’s history of labor, and stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring their welfare and prosperity.
In a nod to the upcoming fiscal budget, he pledged to provide further relief to the labor class and urged businessmen to invest in education and health projects for the underprivileged.
Asserting the founding principles of Pakistan as a welfare state, Shehbaz emphasized equal opportunities for all citizens to excel, regardless of background, in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He likened the relationship between laborers and employers to the interconnectedness of wheels on a carriage, underscoring their collective role in driving national progress and prosperity.
Acknowledging the hardships faced by the common man due to inflation, Shehbaz stressed the importance of bridging the gap between the rich and the poor, citing teachings from the Holy Quran and the messages of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Additionally, he quoted Allama Iqbal’s verses on the plight of laborers, resonating with the struggles of millions of workers in Pakistan.
Earlier, Chairman of PM Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan highlighted various government initiatives, including a personal loan scheme for workers and the establishment of educational programs such as Danish schools and Educational Endowment Funds during Shehbaz’s tenure as chief minister of Punjab.
