Gilgit-Baltistan Government Calls in Army to Restore Law and Order

The Gilgit-Baltistan government, in its commitment to maintaining regional law and order, has taken the decision to seek military support, as revealed on Saturday.

The resolution was reached during a convened session of the Parliamentary Peace Committee, presided over by GB Chief Minister Gulbar Khan. In light of the escalating law and order concerns within the province, the gathering determined the deployment of Rangers, scouts, and FC personnel within prominent urban centers.

Additionally, the meeting resolved to enact Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, a legal provision pertaining to the preservation of public order, across the province. Concurrently, the GB administration has instated a prohibition on “unlawful gatherings” and road blockades.

Substantial deployments of Rangers, scouts, and law enforcement personnel are slated for major cities, with the aim of ensuring tranquility in the region.

Chief Minister Gulbar Khan issued a stern warning against the proliferation of hate speech through social media platforms and other channels.
