LAHORE: The rationalization of BS programs has started in Lahore’s government colleges. Under this process, BS programs with very low student admissions have been closed.
According to officials, out of 319 BS programs running in 27 colleges across the city, 116 programs have been shut down. Some of these programs had only four or five students enrolled. Now, 203 BS programs will continue in Lahore colleges.
Director Colleges Ahsan Mukhtar said that teachers from the closed programs will be transferred to other colleges. He added that staff rationalization will also be done to ensure that the teaching system is not affected.
The Higher Education Department (HED) plans to implement this model in other districts of Punjab to improve the education system across the province.
In another development, after an eight-month gap, promotion link training for college teachers will begin in June. Through this training, teachers will be promoted from grade 16 to 17.

Around 4,000 teachers across Punjab will receive this training, which will be delivered in phases by 1,600 master trainers.
