LAHORE: Development work is moving fast at the Shahpur Kanjran Cattle Market in Lahore to provide modern facilities to the public. A free tram service has been launched for buyers visiting the market.
As per the details, the tram will carry people from Multan Road to the cattle sheds. Visitors are enjoying the tram ride and have praised the market administration for this helpful service.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Cattle Market Management & Development Company (PCMMDC), the tram service was started to give citizens a better and easier experience at the cattle market.
As Eid-ul-Azha 2025 approaches, cattle markets have opened across Punjab. Strict security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of citizens and traders.
In Lahore, 1,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed for the security of 11 cattle markets. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that a strong security plan is in place to protect people’s lives and property.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 4,000 officers and personnel are working at 230 cattle markets across the province.
The IG Punjab has ordered that no cattle market should be set up without approval from the district administration. He also said strict action will be taken against illegal markets and sale points.
To protect citizens from thieves and criminals, a patrolling plan has been made. Punjab Police said that 284 patrolling teams, including Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit, will patrol around cattle markets across the province.
Meanwhile, in view of Eid-ul-Azha, the Lahore administration has decided to set up one permanent and five temporary cattle markets in the city for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals. A formal notification has been issued by the Deputy Commissioner Lahore.
According to details, six cattle markets will be established in total this year. The permanent market will be set up at its traditional location in Shahpur Kanjran, where large-scale buying and selling of animals takes place every year.
As per the DC’s notification, five temporary cattle markets will be set up in Tehsil Wahga, Nishtar, Ravi, Cantt, and Raiwind.
The administration is taking steps to ensure facilities for the public, control traffic, maintain cleanliness, and provide security. Buyers and traders are requested to use only the designated markets to avoid traffic and sanitation problems in the city.
