KARACHI: Goods transporters, who have been holding a protest at Sukkur’s Babarlu Bypass for 11 days, have announced a large rally in Karachi today, Monday, April 29. They plan to march toward the Sindh’s Chief Minister House and Governor House.

According to a private media report, the transporters say over 40,000 trucks carrying goods are stuck at the protest camp in Sukkur. This has caused losses worth millions of rupees as the goods are spoiling, and industries are being affected.

Meanwhile, in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed area, a protest turned violent. Demonstrators blocked a national highway, threw stones at police, and set a police vehicle on fire. Police used batons and tear gas to disperse the crowd, but tensions remain high in the area.

Despite the Prime Minister’s clear statement against building a new canal from the Indus River, protests continue in different parts of Sindh.

After police action at Babarlu Bypass, the area became tense. In Moro town, Naushahro Feroze district, police also used batons to stop protesters.

Due to the protests, daily life has been disrupted. People are unable to travel or leave their homes.

The provincial government and security agencies are expected to take immediate action to address public concerns and restore law and order.
