LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist and leader Sanam Javed and her husband, Atiq, have been arrested in a joint operation in Lahore’s Green Town and Township areas.
According to a private TV channel, citing sources, the Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) detained Sanam Javed in connection with the May 9 violent incidents. Her husband Atiq was arrested by the FIA Cyber Crime Wing in a case involving a fake video scandal related to Uzma Bukhari.
Police stated that Sanam Javed faces charges of arson and terrorism linked to the May 9 events. She and her husband were moved to Islam Pura police station for questioning. The arrests were carried out following orders from an anti-terrorism court.
Previously, on July 14, 2024, Sanam Javed was released by the Islamabad District and Sessions Court, but she was rearrested by Ramna police in new cases after the court rejected the FIA’s request for a six-day remand.
