Sir Syed University announces salary hike for employees

KARACHI: The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology has announced a salary increase for its employees.

According to a report in a private newspaper, Chancellor Javed Anwar addressed the staff and announced a salary increase for employees in grades 01 to 04. He added that the salary increase for employees in grades 05 and above will be announced in the second phase.

He emphasized that employees are the backbone of the institution. Without their involvement, the development and success of the institution would not be possible. He said it is crucial for them to remain happy and satisfied for high-quality work and performance.

Chancellor Javed Anwar stated that this move reflects the university’s positive mindset and that it is just the beginning, he added that the salaries of PhD faculty members were also increased to improve academic standards.

Javed further mentioned that the university will continue to introduce employee-friendly policies in the future. Last year, in April, the salaries of all staff members were also increased.

He pointed out that while other institutions were laying off employees or reducing their salaries during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sir Syed University did not lay off any employees or reduce their salaries.

He clarified that the salary increase announced so far applies only to grades 01 to 04, and that the remaining grades will see salary increases in the next phase.

On the other hand, Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali said that this increase is an effort to bring positive changes in the employees’ lives. He noted that the success of Sir Syed University is a result of the hard work of its staff, and the salary increase will help further enhance their performance.
