The amended act includes a provision for Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (ZABUL), Sindh’s only law university, allowing judges to apply for the vice-chancellor position with an age relaxation.
Sindh High Court judges are eligible up to age 63, and Supreme Court judges up to age 67. However, educationists or bureaucrats applying for the same position at ZABUL are restricted to the 62-year age limit.
The act also allows vice-chancellors to receive a one-time extension for a subsequent term after completing their first term. Under the act, if an educationist or bureaucrat is appointed vice-chancellor at age 62, they will complete their first term at 65. If granted an extension, they can serve until age 69.
