HYDERABAD: Professor Shaukat Khanzada, Secretary of Hyderabad Educational Board, has dismissed Dr Masroor Zai, the exam controller, over corruption allegations.
According to the dismissal notice, Dr Zai allegedly uploaded data of 447 candidates without charging fees. This caused a financial loss of Rs. 3.76 million to the board.
Dr Masroor Zai confirmed his dismissal. He pointed out that Professor Khanzada, who issued the notice, holds the same Grade 19 position as him. Dr Zai claimed that he was appointed as exam controller with the approval of the Sindh Chief Minister. He said he cannot be removed without approval from a higher authority.
In a related development, a dispute has arisen between Chairman Ali Ahmed Brohi, appointed on deputation, and Dr Masroor Zai over control of the exam department. The issue has reached the Sindh Chief Minister.

A three-member inquiry committee has been formed by the High Inspection Team to investigate the matter. The committee will review allegations against D. Zai and examine exam records from the past ten years for matric and intermediate levels.
Earlier, the Chairman of Karachi Inter Board, Amir Qadri, was removed from his position following a controversy over intermediate exam results.
A notification for his removal was issued. Chairman of Matric Board, Sharaf Ali Shah, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Inter Board.
Amir Qadri was also asked to explain his foreign trip taken without prior approval. The Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, approved his removal from the position.
