ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) administration has decided to recruit aircraft technicians on a daily wage basis, while the interview process for recruitment on contract has also been started.
According to a report by a private TV channel, the administration has taken this step after the resignations of 110 engineers and technicians in the national airline.
PIA engineering department officials have called candidates who have completed their apprenticeship, and according to media sources, interviews for recruitment on contract are underway.
Private media sources also say that no decision has been made to recruit aircraft engineers at present. It should be noted that the last fresh batch of aircraft engineers was recruited in 2016.
It should be remembered that during the last few months, reports emerged of hundreds of employees submitting resignations from the national airline, PIA.

In this regard, the Secretary General of the Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan (SAP) had written a letter to the PIA management, in which he expressed concern that the trend of highly skilled aircraft engineers, officer engineers, and technicians leaving the national airline is extremely dangerous.
The letter also pointed out that hundreds of resignations have been received from employees in the last few months, while many other skilled individuals also intend to resign.
The departure of such a large number of skilled personnel from the national organization could cause serious problems for the organization.
