Sindh cabinet approves NETC to operate 8,000 electric buses

KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet has approved the National Energy and Transport Corporation (NETC) to operate 8,000 electric buses.

The cabinet meeting, chaired by the Sindh Chief Minister, reviewed important development projects. The cabinet approved the exemption of the K-4 project from SRB tax at the request of WAPDA.

The plan to operate 100 electric buses was also discussed in the meeting. The cabinet was informed that 500 buses will be operated in the first phase, 5,000 buses in the second phase, and 4,000 to 6,000 buses in the third phase. However, the cabinet approved the operation of 8,000 electric buses.

The meeting approved Rs. 500 million for the Hyderabad Development Authority. The cabinet was informed that a 105-kilometer railway line will be laid from Thar Coalfield Islamkot to Chhor and a 9-kilometer railway line will be laid from Bin Qasim to Port Qasim.

The Sindh Chief Minister said that 10 percent of the work on the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone has been completed, and the Chinese company Power China International is keen to bring Chinese companies to the Dhabeji Economic Zone.

Sindh cabinet approved the MoU with the provincial government. It was informed in the meeting that three acres of additional land will be given to the NED Science and Technology Park at NED University.

The Sindh Chief Minister directed Education Minister Sardar Shah to formulate the best policy for Sindh Transgender Education and present it to the cabinet.
