ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Islamabad has announced that all educational institutions under its jurisdiction will now operate every Saturday, following the conclusion of the holiday period.
“The decision will come into effect from August 10 [Saturday], 2024,” the directorate stated in a notice issued to all heads of institutions in Islamabad model schools, colleges, and rural areas.
“This initiative is intended for remedial classes, foundational literacy, and the promotion of healthy activities such as sports and mind games,” it said.
All staff members are required to observe regular working hours on Saturdays. “The sessions shall be conducted for two hours and are optional for students,” it said.
The change is seen as an important step to improve the productivity and efficiency of the Islamabad federal education system, which has been affected by the long weekend holidays in schools.
It should be noted, the Federal Ministry of Education extended the summer holidays in Islamabad schools and colleges until August 4, 2024, due to hot summer weather in the country.
