ISLAMABAD: Pakistan sent 400 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea on Sunday.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Twitter that this was the eighth time they’d sent help since the conflict started in Palestine on October 7, 2023. The help included warm tents, tarps, blankets, medicine, and food.
Dar said the Pakistani Ambassador to Egypt would get the help at Port Said and give it to the Egyptian Red Crescent to give out to the people in Gaza.
“Pakistan stays strong in helping our friends in Gaza,” Dar said.
Pakistan has always said it’s against what Israel is doing and keeps sending help to the area.
On April 19, Pakistan felt bad about the US saying no to letting Palestine fully join the United Nations. They were also sad that the UN Security Council couldn’t agree on this.
“We feel bad that the US said no to Palestine fully joining the UN,” said Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.
The Security Council stopped Palestine from fully joining the UN because the US said no, even though most other countries agreed. Only Switzerland and the UK didn’t say yes or no.
Baloch said Palestine needs to join the UN to fix the wrongs done to them for over 75 years and to have the right to decide for themselves.
She also said Palestinians have the right to their own country with borders from before 1967 and Jerusalem as the capital.
During a recent visit from high-up people from Saudi Arabia to Islamabad, both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministers said they want the fighting to stop right away, and for the people in Gaza to be free from the blockade. They said it’s Israel’s fault that things aren’t getting better.
