ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Post and electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) have agreed in principle to hand over the printing and delivery of electricity bills nationwide to Pakistan Post.
A senior official from Pakistan Post told the newspaper that all Postmaster Generals have been directed to contact the DISCOs in their respective areas and prepare a distribution plan for Phase 1 by July 25.
The decision was made during a meeting held on July 17. It was agreed that the project will begin as a pilot. If it proves successful, Pakistan Post will take over the full responsibility for bill printing and delivery within six months.

In the first phase, postal staff will deliver electricity bills in one subdivision of each postal circle with support from DISCO staff. During this phase, any problems or weaknesses in the system will be identified and fixed.
“The process of handing over the printing and delivery of bills to Pakistan Post will be done step by step,” the official said.
He added that to ensure timely delivery of bills to over 50 million domestic, commercial, and agricultural consumers, the availability of postal routes and staff strength will also be reviewed.
