LAHORE: Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar has announced the launch of a pink bus service in Lahore.
According to the report, during the meeting of the Punjab Assembly, the Minister of Transport stated that pink buses are being ordered and that one to two buses will be run for women on each road.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan inquired whether the Lahore Municipal Corporation should contribute to the development of the metro if it is built in Lahore. He asked why the citizens of Toba Tek Singh should bear the burden of development work in Lahore.
In response, Bilal Akbar expressed hope that a Local Government Act will be established to entrust provincial affairs to local government.
He noted that a significant amount of investment has been made in Lahore and that the BRT will now be built in Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Multan, while 5,000 to 6,000 buses will operate to divisional headquarters.

The Speaker mentioned that a separate pink bus service for women has been introduced in Sindh. Opposition member Sardar Muhammad Ali Khan has demanded the operation of buses for women and students in Fateh Jang.
It should be noted that earlier, the Federal Ministry of Education inaugurated pink buses in Islamabad for students, teachers, and all women, with the aim of providing free and safe travel for women.
The number of pink buses launched by the federal government in Islamabad is twenty, aimed at providing the best travel facilities for women.
The goal of the initiative was to promote girls’ education, women’s empowerment, and inclusive development in Islamabad.
