It is noteworthy that today, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari declared to the media after the meeting of his party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) in Islamabad that they would back the PML-N candidate.
Subsequently, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, along with members of the Muslim League (N), gathered at the residence of Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and President Shahbaz Sharif, along with Balochistan Awami Party leader and Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, announced plans to nominate a joint candidate after the meeting.
While Shahbaz Sharif refrained from mentioning the party’s candidate for the prime ministership on this occasion, when questioned about the campaign slogans advocating Nawaz Sharif for prime minister, he expressed that he would still urge him to take on the role.
