ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) clarified on Saturday that, given the gravity of the situation in certain areas, Pakistan Army personnel will also be involved in providing security during the transportation of ballot papers.

In a statement issued by an election commission spokesperson, concerns raised in some newspapers regarding the security of delivering ballot papers to the offices of district returning officers were addressed.

The spokesperson emphasized that after the ballot papers are printed in the printing press, it becomes the responsibility of the respective DROs or their assigned officials to safely transport them to the offices of District Returning Officers.

These officers are tasked with ensuring the secure transportation of ballot papers under their supervision and the protective custody of local police officials.

However, in light of the seriousness of the situation in some areas, the Election Commission has decided that Pakistan Army personnel will also participate in ensuring the security of ballot papers during transportation.
