PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to provide free school bags to students in public schools.
According to the details, KP Information Advisor Barrister Saif stated that the government has also approved funds to supply free textbooks.
He added that the annual fund for the Parent-Teacher Council has been increased from 5 billion to 7 billion rupees.
Barrister Saif said Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is taking steps to promote education, following the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan.
In a related development, the KP government announced free transport for female students in middle schools. The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) has sent a letter to education officers in 10 districts.

In the first phase, transport will be provided to female students in 10 underdeveloped districts: Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai Palas, Torghar, Lakki Marwat, D.I. Khan, Hangu, Kohat, Bannu, and Charsadda. This decision will take effect from the start of the next academic year.
According to the letter, this initiative will help reduce travel challenges for female students. Girls whose schools are 1.5 kilometers or more from their homes will benefit.
