RAWALPINDI: As a fresh wave of terrorism tightens its grip on the country, security forces carried out an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, eliminating two terrorists involved in targeting civilians, as per the military’s media wing statement on Friday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that Abdullah Khadri and Khalid, also known as “Janan,” were dispatched to hell following an intense gun battle initiated after security forces conducted an IBO based on reports of terrorists’ presence in the area.
The slain terrorists were actively engaged in various terrorist activities in the region, including the targeted killing of innocent civilians, the statement added.
Simultaneously, security forces are engaged in a sanitization operation to eradicate any other terrorists discovered in the area.
“[…] the security forces of Pakistan are resolute in eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country,” emphasized the military’s media wing.
The IBO follows closely after two soldiers attained martyrdom in a gun battle with terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district.
The martyrs were Sepoy Muhammad Afzal, 29, a resident of district Bhimber, Azad Kashmir, and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain, 27, a resident of district Mansehra.
Pakistan has witnessed a concerning surge in terror-related incidents since the Taliban-led administration assumed control of Afghanistan in 2021.
In 2023, the country experienced a total of 586 terror attacks, with 17% attributed to banned terror outfits like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Daesh, and others.
In the same period, security forces executed 197 operations against outlaws, resulting in the death of 537-545 of them.
