ISLAMABAD: The PML-N has chosen to grant a Senate ticket to Talal Chaudhry in acknowledgment of his steadfast support for the party during challenging periods.
According to insider information, Rana Sanaullah, the PML-N Punjab President, communicated the party’s decision to Talal.
Sanaullah conveyed to Talal that the party had selected him for a position in the upper house of parliament.
During a discussion with Talal, Sanaullah emphasized that his contributions and sacrifices significantly contributed to the removal of the “anti-people” government.
He reiterated that the PML-N acknowledged and appreciated Talal’s sacrifices and dedication, sentiments that the party would always remember.
Sources indicate that Sanaullah informed Talal that not receiving a National Assembly ticket did not imply the party’s neglect but was a strategic decision to appoint him as a senator.
The PML-N has revealed the names of its candidates for the upcoming general elections in the National Assembly and provincial legislatures.
However, notable party figures such as Daniyal Aziz and Talal Chaudhry did not secure a ticket for any of these seats.
On August 2, 2023, the five-year disqualification period for both PML-N leaders came to an end.
The Supreme Court had sentenced both Daniyal and Talal on August 2, 2018, in a contempt of court case.
At the conclusion of their sentences, then-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated both Talal and Daniyal in a social media post.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed optimism, stating, “The darkness of negative actions taken by enemies of Pakistan’s prosperity and progress during the past years is dissipating.”
He extended his appreciation to PML-N leaders who stood by the party and its supreme leader, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, despite challenges.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, PMLN Senior Vice President, expressed pride in Talal, noting, “Courage and conviction do not always roar, sometimes they’re personified by people like you. You stand tall. Taller than those who victimised you. They are relegated to the dustbins of ugly history while you are the present and the future, Insha’Allah,” in a message on X.
