RAWALPINDI: Pakistan conducted a “successful” training launch of the Ghauri Weapon System on Tuesday to assess the “operational and technical readiness” of the Army Strategic Forces Command (ASFC), according to a statement from the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the ASFC commander, along with senior officers from the strategic forces and scientists and engineers from strategic organizations, oversaw the launch.
The commander commended the training and operational readiness of the force, emphasizing their proficiency in handling the weapon system in the field and achieving operational and technical objectives. He also praised the contributions of scientists and engineers in enhancing Pakistan’s strategic capabilities.
After the test, the president, prime minister, chairman joint chiefs of staff, and services chiefs extended their congratulations to the troops, scientists, and engineers for the successful training launch.
The Ghauri missile, with a range of up to 1,300 kilometers, was initially tested by Pakistan in 2018 and is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads.
Additionally, this training launch comes shortly after Pakistan reinforced its “deterrence” and improved “strategic stability” with the successful flight test of the Ababeel Weapon System.
“The test flight aimed to revalidate various design, technical parameters, and performance evaluations of different sub-systems of the weapon system,” as stated by the ISPR.
