LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, announced the initiation of a free motorbike scheme for girls, urging parents to trust their daughters and permit their usage.
She conveyed this during the closing ceremony of the inaugural Chief Minister Pink Games held at a gymnasium, where she presented a trophy to the victorious team from Lahore College for Women University and distributed prizes to other successful teams.
During the event, she mentioned the appointment of a new sports minister in Punjab who would expand the reach of Pink Games throughout the province.
Additionally, she disclosed plans to introduce the Punjab League following the Pink Games, with participation expected from one million players, and its subsequent expansion across the region.
In a separate meeting, the Korean Ambassador, Park Kijun, discussed potential areas of mutual cooperation with the CM, particularly in utilizing Korean technology for industrial growth. They deliberated on cooperation in electronics, automobiles, and information technology sectors, with the CM emphasizing the significance of boosting bilateral trade volume.
Earlier, CM Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the remodeling of Shahdara metro bus station and inspected its facilities, later riding the metro bus to Gaddafi Stadium.
She was briefed on the metro bus service’s performance, with over 1.36 billion passengers having utilized it thus far, averaging 176,000 daily passengers.
Furthermore, CM Maryam Nawaz attended the LWMC Road Show 2024, where she commended LWMC’s efforts and allocated a substantial budget of Rs200 billion for the implementation of a robust solid waste management system across 36 districts of Punjab. She also directed the expedited construction of five scientific landfill sites and 10 material recovery filters.
Lastly, CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her condolences over the tragic incident in Tandlianwala, where five people lost their lives due to poisonous food. She sought a report from the IGP on the matter, extending her heartfelt sympathies to the affected families.
