LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given authorities a deadline of July 30 to clear all areas declared as “no-bird zones” around Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Officials said on Saturday that the operation to secure an 8-kilometre area around the airport has been intensified to prevent bird strikes during flights.
Teams from the Wildlife Department, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and district administration are working together to remove bird attractions from the area.
Clean-up efforts have been sped up in Lahore Cantonment, Walton Cantonment, and areas under the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC).
